Kathmandu University is one of the oldest universities in Nepal and is an autonomous, non-profit, public institution. KU offers 200+ academic programs at both the undergraduate and post-graduate level. Kathmandu University offers a number of generous scholarships based on merit and need. It has a diverse range of extracurricular activities and offers optimum contact between the students and the faculty. PAHS is a non-profit public institution whose main focus is on training health workers for rural Nepal and improving Nepal’s rural health. It is based at Patan Hospital which is the main teaching hospital. The School of Medicine is the oldest and most well-known program taught at PAHS, the second being the School of Nursing & Midwifery. PAHS also offers a Masters course in Public Health. The institute is also set to open a School of Allied Health Sciences soon. PAHS is ranked excellently for its infrastructure.
Tribhuvan is the oldest university in Nepal, and a is an autonomous, non-profit, public institution with a number of campuses. It is the Central University of Nepal. Tribhuvan University is considered the best medical college in Nepal. Aside from this, it also offers a number of other courses in different fields. The university is recognized by Nepal Medical Council and World Health Organization. Like KU, the Prime Minister is the ceremonial chief and chancellor of the university. Many public and private universities are affiliated to TU and TU has almost 8000 teaching staff.
LMC has a beautiful campus and is located 300 kms from Kathmandu. It was designed as a centre for health, education, and tourism. The college also runs a 300-bed hospital. LMC offers undergraduate, post-graduate, and super-specialty courses with the objective of providing clinical training. It inducts students into its MBBS program through the entrance exam held by KU and its intake is limited to 100 students. LMC ranks 7th in the country and offers its courses in English medium.
MCOMS offers 22 program at its two campuses. It is associated with Manipal Teaching Hospital, and enrolls about 100 students each year for the MBBS medical qualification. Students from different countries such as India, USA, Maldives, and Sri Lanka enroll for this university. This university is recognized not just by WHO but also by FAIMER, and the degree is also recognized in other countries like India and Sri Lanka. It is ranked 11th in Nepal and has notable alumni placed with international institutions.
